LECTURE 4

Today, our group discusses many things; for instance, we talk about IEEE. IEEE was come from The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers that is standard operation of wireless networks. There are many kinds of IEEE; indeed, I ever present about the IEEE 802.11. IEEE 802.11 is a standard of wifi and it can separate into

- IEEE802.11a: The first standard of IEEE. It can transfer data in a rate of 54 mbps and work on 5 GHz.

- IEEE802.11b: It was release in the same time as IEEE802.11a but it work on 2.4 GHz. As a result, it transfers data more slowly than IEEE802.11a because 2.4 GHz is a public frequency.

- IEEE802.11g: It develop from IEEE802.11b but it can transfer data in a rate of 54 mbps like IEEE802.11a and work on 2.4 GHz. Therefore, It will also slowly because 2.4 GHz is a public frequency.

- IEEE802.11n: It can transfer data in a rate of 300 mbps and work on 2.4 or 5 GHz. It’s faster than type a, type b and g.

- IEEE802.11-2012: The latest version of IEEE802.11; more faster.

Next, A.June ask everybody to read the link that post in group; including:

Therefore, we just skim the word and pick one interesting topic to discuss in the group. The topic is ‘Social network analysis and mining’

Social network analysis and mining:

The definition of data minding is to gather the information together. It picks some data that you want to make it useful. For example, you are the owner of one social network and you want to know who like the fashion. So, you just pick users that like fashion page and check for information; age, gender, etc. This calls data mining; picks some data to make it useful. If you has another page that want to know who like fashion, you may shared data to that page; suggests this page to the same user.

----------------------------------------------------------

Semantic web:

It means that computer and user can shared data together; you can put more data in that. When the Internet happens, I has concept of the Internet and occur web 1.0, web 2.0, and web 3.0. Semantic web is one of the intelligent social computing because it can understand by itself. For example, when you search something from Google and you put something, they will record what you ask for; they try to find the meaning to understand from your search. After web 2.0, it can read able and write able; semantic has some meaning. Accordingly, semantic is you got to understand what’ user try to ask and then give the information to them.

----------------------------------------------------------

- Wekinomic is to link people together or how you see the social connection. In the past, Internet comes from open source. Internet jump from privacy to open source likes Linux OS: sharing; community and a lot of free software. That’s the revolution of social computing.

- Human Genome Project: The keyword is to share the data then corroborate; help and support each other. Nowadays, technology, political and social was influence. Therefore, you get the information easily because the world is flat. In 1989, the collapse of berlin wall is falling down and then the Internet came up, so People don’t care anymore to keep secret. You know that the word is flat. On the other hand, the word is transparency; you have freedom to access.

- The trend of wikinomics: You change from customer to prosumer. For example, when you go to the restaurant, at first you are customer but when you share some thing, you will be the prosumer.

- Ideagoras: It is one of the software that connect people, actually it is a business of marketplace.

This week also talk about web 2.0 but I have finish it already >>>

What do you think?

This graph show how was the technology in 2008. You can see the period of time (in years) for each technology which is up and down.
